Sargent and Fashion

Tate Britain, London, 22 February–7 July

American-born John Singer Sargent was a brilliant artist of modern life in Britain and Paris from the late Victorian age to the 1920s, painting men and women alike with sensuous romance and acid realism. This exhibition takes a sideways route to understanding his brilliance and includes his great portrait Madame X from New York’s Met.
