Lines of Abstraction, 1950-1970

Turner Contemporary, Margate, 3 February–6 May

Eva Hesse, Agnes Martin, Louise Bourgeois, Lygia Clark, and Hannah Wilke stand out among the 50 female artists featured in this impressive lineup. While abstraction often contains various niche groups and dead-end paths, it can also carry political, personal, radical, and revolutionary undertones. Going beyond mere formalism, there is a constant desire for something universal and transcendent of language.
